FLAUNT COLORFUL BRIGHTS ALL YEAR
:: tiffany wayne photography ::
One thing that is sure to always help better my mood on a cold winter day is to put on a fun, bright color. If you think you have to put all your bright clothing and accessories away just because the temp has dropped? Good news! The times of storing away your entire summer wardrobe and switching it out for strictly heavy dark colors are over. My dear friend and stylist, Nichole Kristen is my go-to women when my clients need a stylist. I recently glammed her up in her beautiful new town house for her baby shower. Not only does she dress well, her taste in interior design is fantastic! She is also so so sweet, she even texts me when she spots a piece she thinks would look great on me. Nichole’s best assets are her ability to understands one’s taste and budget. I felt like I would need a bigger closet when Nichole started talking about all the possibilities, but she calmed my fear of going over my budget and how brights (especially when paired with black) can now be worn year round!
Flaunt colorful brights this winter with these few tips from Stylist Nichole Kristen: Personal Shopping and Styling
Tip 1: Always pair summer bright dresses with black tights (patterned or plain) and add warm winter pieces.
Take a bright color sleeveless shift dress like the one below from Lilly Pulitzer and pair with black tights, black patent leather closed toe heels and basic black cardigan OR ruffle scarf:
Tip 2:When pairing bright color winter (or summer) accessories with year round clothing, always use black as your starting piece and don’t be afraid to accessorize!
Year round LBD (little black dress) paired with black patent leather heels and your favorite statement summer necklace. Black tights aren’t necessary with this look, you can also opt for nude stockings or bare legs and add a black cardigan with a little “flare” for warmth:
Tip 3: Get creative! It’s okay to incorporate more than one bright color in the winter (I wouldn’t recommend going beyond two though). We all need some bright colors in our days to help us look forward to Spring!
Both of these looks incorporate more than one bright color without losing that seasonal look:

Quiz: How Healthy Is Your Hair?
My Diagnosis for Healthy Locks…
(If your answers match mine, you have -or- are on your way to healthy hair!)
Do you?
*Cut your hair every six to eight weeks? (yes)
*Typically wash your hair as necessary… which seems to be every 3-6 days? (yes)
*You rarely color your hair? (yes)
*Owe your look to hair stylist products? (no, I don’t use anything but Argan oils & hair protection products with sunscreen)
*Always use shampoo and conditioner for your hair type? (Yes, but I only apply & lather my shampoo on my scalp, never touching the ends)
*Always air dry your hair? (yes)
*Paddle brush your hair? (yes, I make sure to brush from the bottom, working your way up to prevent catching the brush in any tangles or knots)
*Do hair masks twice a month? (yes)
*Use a hair protection product with sunscreen (yes)
The only downfall I have is that I am guilty of using a straightening iron to flatten my roots twice a week, and a curling iron for some organic waves atleast 4 times a week. I do make it a habit to apply some sort of heat protection hair care product like a spray to my hair before any type of heat styling. Your hairstyle, hair color and hair type affects how healthy your hair looks. The more gentle you are on your hair overtime, your hair will start looking healthier which will in turn make you look younger, and a great hair day boosts confidence like nothing else. My best hair days usually happen when I know I don’t have to wash my hair and–with a little bit of help from my curling iron–my hair sets into organic waves. It looks chic and sexy, and it makes me feel instantly happier : )
